On a very warm August evening in Badshot Lea the Tennis Club chairman Gillian Hyman welcomed the Farnham Town Council Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor Graham and Judy, to the Club. The Mayor had come to see the results from an FTC grant for a much-needed retreatment of the courts’ surface, carried out by a local firm Coloured Courts. This will hopefully extend the life for a further four years at least before a full resurface will be required.
It was a great opportunity for members to meet with the Mayor and to explain the needs of a growing local community club, whilst sharing some welcome refreshments and grabbing the formal photo of the event with the grant cheque.

The ReturnTennis coaching team at Badshot Lea Tennis Club were also successful in receiving a grant from Farnham Town Council for holiday activities. This grant covered the cost for families that could not otherwise afford for their juniors to play tennis, thus opening up the sport to all in the community. Head coach Matt reached out to Hale Community and Youth Centre and the local Badshot Lea area for juniors to sign up. In August, three six hour sessions were held at the Club, with twenty+ attendees each day. Thank you to Matt and the coaching team, Ben and Sally, for giving the juniors a great time on court and helping keep them safe from the heat we were experiencing.
We have already had player sign up to tennis lessons after having a great experience of tennis on the camp. If you would like a free trial lesson please contact Matt at info@returntennis.co.uk.
Whilst the Mayor was at the Club the formal photo of the grant cheque was taken.

The Club has again entered six teams in the Aldershot and District LTA winter League, so if you enjoy competitive tennis, the Club is always looking for new team members – please make contact. The floodlit courts are on the recreation ground behind the village green in Badshot Lea and they are available for public hire.
